This remarkable image is one of a series uncovered by Dave Agnew. It was taken during the 1975-76 ski season and shows
a youthful Dave Agnew, Kevan Leycraft and Ted Kuchura in the Lake Louise parking lot surrounded by some very rare
early skibikes. Incredibly, this was also the first season that Kevan's skibikes were ridden at Lake Louise, Alberta.
The bike that Dave has his foot on is the venerable "Red Rocket", described in the SkiBike History page.
Only Dave's bike and the one next to it have long-travel shock absorbers under the seat. These may
have been the first bikes ever to have incorporated this feature. Note that all of these bikes have their
handlebars welded directly to the top of the dual steering columns. Also of interest is the skibike in front of
Kevan, which has a hinged seat which wraps around the rear frame member and is supported on two short-travel springs.
The four machines on the right incorporated an early frame geometry and seat design, where the seat was mounted far forward on the
frame and supported by two small short-travel springs. With the exception of Dave's skibike, none of the machines in this photo exist today.
